XPAR Vision proudly presents, the revolutionary new version of our software: XPAR Vision IR-D, V7! The new software is being sold, rolled out and implemented all over the world now. With this new release, we reinforce our leadership in hot end inspection and process monitoring in the container glass industry.

IMPROVED

The new IR-D V7 software is the result of years of experience and close contact with many of our users. Our customers have provided us with their wishes and ideas. From all the feedback we received, we incorporated the best ideas in our new and improved software release. Therefor the new IR-D V7 shows major changes with regard to camera set up, process improvement functionality and last but not least, inspection accuracy. In general, these changes make the software much more accessible, easier to use and extra effective and efficient.

WHAT’S NEW?

The camera set up has been significantly simplified. Camera setup is automated now and activated by a one-button-click. Image processing has been improved. Besides that the image resolution has been quadrupled. Multi-integration and splitting have been automated, both activated by a one-button-click. A complete new Job Change Wizard guides the user through the process in just a few steps. There is even a completely Automatic Job Change Setup! This instantly leads to higher efficiency and better results.

MORE AND BETTER

New functions have been added. With version 7, it is possible to measure the absolute bottle diameter on multiple heights in the bottle. With the diameter module, it is possible to set up limits for diameter and ovality and detect and/or reject accordingly. As with the intensity/asymmetry, verticality and shape modules, the diameter module is also supported by so-called ‘control charts’. Next to the diameter module, the hot spots module has been added. As with the distorted glass, defects, fin defects and thin spots modules, the hot spots module supports the detection of specific defects; it is to be expected that birdswing detection (and rejection) especially will gain effectiveness due to this hot spots module. In addition to the new functions also the overall accuracy of defect detection has been improved, thanks to use of latest smart software algorithms and higher resolutions.

LOOK & FEEL

Version 7 is instantly recognized when starting the User Interface. It has a modern look & feel. The overview is renewed and presents the information in a much more intuitive way. The infrared images of each product are displayed and provide immediate feedback to the operator. Actually, all User Interface screens have been optimized and modernized to provide more comprehensive and logical feedback to the users.

ANALYSIS & REPORTS

One of the functions of the InfraRed Dual camera system (IR-D) is hot end inspection of bottles. Every bottle is compared with specific bottle settings and qualified as good or bad. Bad bottles can eventually be rejected. Images from bad bottles can be stored. The maximum amount of bottle images to be stored has been doubled. This is useful for the so-called root cause analyses. In order to make these analyses easier and accessible, filters for viewed images have been added. With these filters, it is possible to discriminate between rejected and non-rejected bottles, to focus on all images from one specific mould or section and/or to focus on images related to one or more specific defects.

All measurement data is collected and stored in the XMIS SQL database. This enables users to analyse current and historical data of all products produced. The access to this data is given by the XMIS Reporting Platform that allows Ad-Hoc Analysis and automatic and regular Standard Reporting. Predefined reports are sent each morning by email to all production representatives involved. These reports provide useful statistics and analyses of the last 24 hours of production to be discussed at the daily production meeting. In version 7 additional reports have been added (e.g. User Awareness) to provide even more value to the data and measurements from the IR-D system.

HISTORY

XPAR Vision’s InfraRed Hot End Technology was first introduced in 2000 to support the container glass industry for inspection of defects and the monitoring of the forming process. Since then, worldwide more than 400 production lines have been equipped with it. At the time of introduction this was a true revolution. Of course, over the years the technology has evaluated, both in terms of software features and performance, as in terms of hardware (from single to dual camera, for instance).
